What is a Source Request?
Submitting a source request for a driver moves that driver into the Needs Sourcing tab & it saves what needs to be sourced for that driver. It creates a to-do list for your team. Planners/CSRs can quickly see which drivers need a load, what the outbound location is, and if provided what the destination location is.
When to submit a Source Request:
The following are the recommended opportunities to create load source requests for your drivers. These scenarios can be found in the "Needs Review" tab within Dispatching.
- Drivers with no load matches, neither Business nor Exception.
- Drivers with no Business load matches, and none of the Exception matches can be approved for the driver.
- Drivers with Business load matches, but they are ranked low for the network (eg. Feasible Match)
How to submit a Source Request
Send the Driver
You can submit a source request for a driver that is based on the drivers next available dispatch location.
- When you click on a driver, in the "Dispatch Match Details" panel that slides out on the right, click on the "Source" tab.
- Click on the blue button "Create Source Request"
- A slide out will open that allows you to adjust the source request if you desire.
- It defaults to requesting a Pick Up near the driver's next available for dispatch location and time. You may adjust this.
- It defaults to not specifying a Destination location. You may add one, but it is not required.
- Click "Send"
- The driver now has a source request!
Send a Specific External Load
You can send a specific load that is on a load board along with the source request. So when the request is being worked, it will search for that specific lane. If the specific load is no longer available, it will still show any other loads that are similar in location and timing.
- When you click on a driver, in the "Dispatch Match Details" panel that slides out on the right, click on the "Search for Load" button.
- In the "Search for Loads" screen, under the "Internal Loads" tab, review available loads.
- Check if there are any loads that the system couldn't automatically match but that you know the driver can service.
- If you find a suitable load, select it and proceed with assigning it to the driver.
- If no suitable loads are found internally, switch to the "External Sources" tab.
- Adjust search parameters as needed (e.g., pickup/delivery locations, radius, or date range) to find the best load options.
- Review the load options listed under "External Sources."
- Choose a load that best matches the driver’s requirements
- Click on the load, then select "Send Source Request" to initiate the load booking for the driver.
- The driver now has a source request based on this load!
